Meghan Markle Ditched Engagement Ring To Look ‘Low-Key’ During Africa Tour

Meghan Markle ditched her engagement ring to look low-key during her Africa tour with Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already started their official visit to South Africa. They were spotted visiting Cape Town recently.

According to The Sun’s Becky Pemberton, Markle was photographed sans her $312,000 engagement ring. The royal reportedly ditched her dazzling three-stone sparkler with a much simpler version in an effort to be “low-key” during the tour.

Markle’s new band features a small but pretty turquoise stone. She wears it alongside her usual Welsh gold wedding band. A royal aide confirmed to Pemberton that the duchess opted for a less flashy ring because she wanted to be “low-key.”

Pemberton said that Markle’s move is a stark contrast to when she showed up at Trooping the Colour in June where she showed off three pretty rings. Aside from her engagement ring and wedding band, the duchess wore a new gold band with diamonds around the exterior.

Following the said sighting, there were rumors that the ring was Prince Harry’s push present to Markle after she gave birth to their firstborn, Archie. The royals are fond of giving their wives push presents after their child’s birth. Kate Middleton also received push presents from Prince William when she delivered Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Earlier this year, Markle redesigned the engagement ring she received from Prince Harry. The bling is very sentimental because the Duke of Sussex designed it and it included two diamond stones from Princess Diana’s collection.

According to an insider, Prince Harry wasn’t happy after Markle opted to redesign the ring because he put too much effort into it. To make matters worse, after the upgrade, Markle’s engagement ring reportedly looked almost identical to the one she received from her ex-husband Trevor Engelson.

“There’s no denying that Harry was offended when Meghan told him she was planning to update the ring,” a source said.

“It’s not sitting well with Harry since he found out about the similarities afterward. He feels humiliated and can’t get his head around why she’d want any reminders of Trevor. ”

Meanwhile, some believe that Prince Harry looks unhappy with Markle. There are netizens who think that the duke lost his spark after marrying the former “Suits” star.
