Meghan Markle Gets Pregnancy Advice From Michelle Obama During Their First Meeting
If you were anywhere near London Monday night, you might have felt a strange-but-wonderful feeling in the air. It was caused by a meeting between two powerful women — Meghan Markle and Michelle Obama — happening in the area.
The former First Lady was in town for a tour stop for her new memoir, “Becoming,” and Markle made sure to stop by to finally meet Obama for the first time.
“They spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities,” a source told Evening Standard. “They also talked about shared experiences of pregnancy and raising children, plus shared causes including girls’ education.”
While this is the first time the Duchess of Sussex and Obama got to have a private chat with each other, it’s not the first time the “Becoming” author got to share some advice with the former actress.
“Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure you feel – from yourself and from others – can sometimes feel like a lot,” Obama told Good Housekeeping earlier this year.
She continued: “So my biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything. I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work. I think it’s okay – it’s good, even – to do that
“What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that – and I think Meghan can maximise her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”
After the advice Obama gave Markle earlier this year and the conversation they had Monday night, Evening Standard said the two “formed a strong bond and were expected to stay in close contact.”
