Meghan Markle discussed the power of voting with popular political activist Gloria Steinem during a backyard chat at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's Montecito home.

Makers Women shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday, giving the public a glimpse of Markle and Steinem's conversation in the Sussexes' backyard. Steinem offered Markle a warm welcome now that she's back in the U.S. after staying in London since 2018.

"I'm so glad that you're home," Steinem said.

"Thank you. Me too, for so many reasons," Markle responded.

The two women then went on and talked about the upcoming election and even encouraged the people to vote. Markle made a statement by subtly reminding others how women like Steinem fought for suffrage.

"People forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to just be where we are right now," Markle said.

"If you don't vote, you don't exist," Steinem said.

"It is the only place we're all equal, the voting booth,” she added.

"What worries me the most are young people, who I understand are the least likely to vote, and I can understand the feeling that they don't think they have an impact. Yet, it's more important for them to vote than anyone else because they're going to be alive long after I am, and they're going to be suffering the consequences.”

Markle also talked about the upcoming election in another video, which Piers Morgan criticized. Morgan urged the Queen to strip Prince Harry and Markle of their royal titles after the duchess openly involved herself in the U.S. politics by encouraging the people to vote.

"We vote to honor those who came before us and to protect those who will come after us because that's what community is all about and that's specifically, what this election is all about," Markle said in the clip.

"The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can’t remain as royals & spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way," Morgan wrote on Twitter in response to the video.

Other online users have mixed opinions on Morgan's call. Some agreed with him, but many, including royal expert Marlene Koenig, defended Markle.

"Meghan is American. Telling people to vote is non partisan they are not working royals," the royal expert commented.
