Meghan Markle, Harry Accused Of Stealing Princess Eugenie's Thunder With Baby Announcement
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are accused of stealing Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's thunder by making a baby announcement at the recent royal wedding.
On Monday, Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first baby. However, according to netizens, Prince Harry and Markle announced it at Princess Eugenie's wedding.
"Meghan and Harry announced the pregnancy AT Eugenie’s wedding. That's such a mean thing to do, stealing the bride and grooms thunder. So, of course, her mother is pissed about it and trying to do the same thing to them," one Twitter user wrote.
"Very poor taste to announce a pregnancy at a wedding. I'm a royalist so equally adore Harry but it was just a bit rude to do that to his cousin on her special day," Ceri Louise added.
"It was their day to shine and announcing the a royal pregnancy on the same day is quite tacky and up-staging. Really. It was like stealing their thunder. I'm happy for all families but waiting until the wedding festivities were past to announce, would have been more thoughtful," Carole Birnie agreed.
Meanwhile, some royal fans were quick to defend Prince Harry and Markle.
"Do you actually know who they told in the wedding? It might have only been close family. I doubt very much that Harry grabbed a microphone and told everybody. Speculation of a pregnancy has been going around for weeks," one user wrote.
"How ridiculous - the announcement was made officially today and if they were delighted enough to share the news with family - who really cares!! It did not take away from the wedding - which was somewhat over the top!" another netizen wrote.
Prior to the palace's announcement, the odds that Prince Harry and Markle are making baby announcement slashed due to Markle's choice of wardrobe at Princess Eugenie's royal wedding. The new royal opted to wear a bulky coat as if she's hiding a baby bump. There were also reports claiming that she won't be joining Prince Harry in Fiji, a Zika-affected country which is not safe for pregnant women.
