Meghan Markle Has This One Thing Princess Diana Never Had

Princess Diana may have been the People’s Princess, but according to the late royal’s former butler, Meghan Markle has one thing that her husband Prince Harry’s mother never had.

In August of last year, Paul Burrell said (via Daily Star) that the Duchess of Sussex has “something that Diana never had.” That special something, according to him, is “a man stood beside her who truly adores her.”

During Princess Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles, he infamously started an affair with his longtime friend Camilla Parker Bowles. After Diana’s death in 1997, Charles continued his romance with Bowles and the two wed in 2005. Bowles is now Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

While Meghan may have Prince Harry by her side, Burrell said at the time that the life is “not going to be easy” for the Duchess. His comments came amid Markle’s seemingly tepid relationship with her father Thomas Markle Sr. leading up to and after the royal wedding. Burrell said Prince Harry had likely taken “a leaf out of his mother’s book” to deal with the situation.

“I’ve been in similar situations where people said things about Princess Diana, and the way she dealt with it was by freezing them out,” he explained, adding, “She would be furious if someone betrayed her and the only way she could deal with it is to cut them off completely.”
