Rumors of a feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have circulated since Meghan officially entered the royal family on May 19, 2018. However, that doesn't mean the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex weren't eager to try and put those rumors to rest.

According to the Express, the royals attempted to mitigate those reports by appearing to be friendly during their annual walk to church on Christmas Day 2018.

During that outing, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex were photographed walking together, even though reports of behind-the-scenes disagreements had been circulating for quite some time leading up to the event. At that appearance, the two royals looked to be enjoying each other's company, but some experts don't believe that was exactly the case.

"It was no accident that they positioned the two women in the middle together, Kate and Meghan were side by side," said Podcast host Kaitlin Menza, who spoke on "Royally Obsessed." She added that she believed the image projected a feeling that everything was fine and they were "just two sisters-in-law, having a great time."

Commentator Angela Mollard also spoke about that specific outing on the "Royals" podcast. There, she asked, "Have you ever seen a more stage-managed Christmas ever?"

Continuing, she added, "Right down to the colours - they were both in regal burgundy and regal navy blue. It was like they'd gone through the jewel colours. They were right next to each other, all very jolly. It came out of PR 101."

This was not the only time that the specific colors that the Duchesses wore were considered by royal watchers. Earlier this year as they both embarked on their separate royal tours, they wore similar colors, which prompted some to speculate that it was a "strategic choice." They have also made other similar style choices throughout the year, which a royal commentator said would be "analyzed" at some point.
