Meghan Markle May Attend Wimbledon This Year If This Happens
Meghan Markle may attend Wimbledon this year if Serena Williams will make sure of one thing.
During a recent interview, the professional tennis player said that her good friend may watch the sports event live if she guarantees her she will win.
“I don’t know. We’ll see. If I keep winning,” Williams said.
Two years ago, Markle attended the Wimbledon as a guest of Ralph Lauren. This year’s matches kicked off on July 2 and will conclude on July 15. Francesca Specter, a journalist for Express, said that since there are still a few more days left, Markle may be seen in the royal box at the tournament.
The Duchess of Sussex is currently in Ireland for an official visit with her husband Prince Harry. Their trip to the sovereign country will take place until Thursday. From Friday, July 13, to Sunday, July 15, she has no other official engagements and may drop by at the sports event.
A source also told Specter that Markle may indeed make an appearance at Wimbledon towards the end of the week.
“Meghan will be at Wimbledon today. If she was to attend, we would know two or three days before or on the morning of,” the source said.
In related news, Kate Middleton, who is a huge tennis fan, has not attended Wimbledon this year either. The Duchess of Cambridge is currently on maternity leave since she just gave birth to Prince Louis less than three months ago. Middleton is not required to attend official engagements as a member of the royal family, but she may do so as she pleases.
Despite her and Markle’s absence, blogger Royal Suitor said that there is hope for the two Duchess to attend Wimbledon before it wraps up.
“With Federer and Serena playing back-to-back, I think we may get a Kate-Meghan outing to see the last two matches. Or a possible full Cambridge-Sussex double date. Harry’s not a tennis guy but they did come to his polo,” the blogger noted (via Express).
