Meghan Markle May Wear Tiara In Tonga After Skipping It In Fiji
Meghan Markle may be seen with a tiara for the first time since her royal wedding during her upcoming state dinner in Tonga.
Martina Bet, a journalist for Express, revealed that Markle and Prince Harry will attend a lavish banquet at the residence of King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau on Friday. Since state dinners are considered to be formal gatherings, female royals are allowed to wear a tiara when they attend the occasion.
But it is also possible for Markle to not wear a tiara, but she refused to do so when she attended a state dinner in Fiji. Kate Middleton, on the other hand, wore one when she joined Prince William, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, and Queen Elizabeth II to the state dinner at the Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Contrary to speculations, the use of a tiara has nothing to do with the female royal’s husband’s position in line to the throne. Middleton didn’t wear Princess Diana’s Lover’s Knot tiara because Prince William will become the future King. Markle didn’t also skip wearing the headpiece because Prince Harry won’t be king.
The use of tiara at state dinners is entirely up to the royal’s preference. Since Markle is on an overseas tour in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga, it might have been difficult and risky for her to bring such an expensive accessory during her trip.
In related news, Markle was first seen wearing a tiara at her royal wedding to Prince Harry on May 19. At that time, the 37-year-old borrowed the tiara that she used that time from Her Majesty. The tiara was originally made for Queen Mary, the Princess of Teck.
Other royals who have also worn tiaras on their wedding day include Princess Diana, Middleton, Sarah Ferguson, and Princess Eugenie. The latter, who just tied the knot this month, opted for Margaret Greville’s Kokoshnik Emerald Tiara. Middleton wore the Cartier Halo tiara when she wed Prince William in 2011, and Princess Diana used the Spencer tiara when she married Prince Charles in 1981, according to Harper's Bazaar.
