Meghan Markle Mirrored Kate Middleton’s Iconic Moment That Changed Prince William’s View
Meghan Markle mirrored Kate Middleton’s iconic moment.
According to Andrew Morton, the Duchess of Sussex's high school performance as Lola Banana had the same “eye-opener” effect as the Duchess of Cambridge modeling a see-through dress for a charity catwalk show at St. Andrew’s University in 2002. Both performances from Middleton and Markle changed the way people perceived them.
“Meghan Markle’s high school acting career is best remembered for her performance as the sexy South American vamp Lola Banana in the 1995 musical comedy Damn Yankees,” Morton wrote in his book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.”
“When Meghan, dressed in long satin gloves and a sequinned leotard, shimmied across the stage in the sassy burlesque number ‘What Lola Wants’, she brought the house down,” the royal biographer continued.
During the performance, Markle’s teachers and classmates reportedly saw a different side of her. Markle was normally perceived as fun but thoughtful, mature and controlled. However, her song-and-dance performance was a revelation for the duchess.
Morton compared this to Middleton’s daring look during a charity fashion show. It was during that time that Prince William reportedly realized that his friend, Middleton, was a hot girl.
“At another time, in another country, something very similar happened when the normally demure student Kate Middleton sashayed down the catwalk in a sheer shift dress over a bikini at a college fashion show,” Morton added.
Prince William, who was watching the parade from the front row, was reportedly both surprised and impressed. He apparently even whispered to a companion, “She’s hot.” After the show, Prince William reportedly attempted to kiss Middleton when they were left alone, but she rejected his advances because he was cold to her when their friends were not around.
Middleton and Markle are rumored to be in a feud. According to reports, the two have a ghastly row that began during Christmas of 2017.
However, they ended the speculations about their beef when they reunited last Dec. 25 for the royals’ annual Christmas day morning service. Middleton and Markle were all smiles as they chatted and walked side by side on the way to the church.
But body language expert Judi James said that Middleton and Markle only put up a united front for the camera. On the other hand, their husbands Prince William and Prince Harry lacked the “buoyant-looking rituals” and appeared distant and ill at ease.
