Meghan Markle Must Follow These Rules If She’s Pregnant
There has been nearly endless speculation over whether or not she is, in fact, pregnant with Prince Harry’s child or will be soon, but whenever the time comes to have a baby, Meghan Markle will be required to follow some very specific rules.
While the world will likely want to know every detail about any baby Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could have, they will have to wait, as the royal couple must follow specific rules when it comes to who gets to know what about their children. Check out these specific rules the pair must follow (according to The Sun).
No One Will Know The Gender Before The Baby’s Birth
Similarly to how Prince William and Kate Middleton did not reveal Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ genders before their births, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will likely not reveal whether their future children are boys or girls prior to their births, as it is typically a standard rule for members of the royal family.
However, while it’s been reported that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge didn’t learn Prince Louis’ gender either until after his birth, should Harry and Meghan opt to know what they’re having, they can.
The Queen Must be First To Know Of The Birth
As with any other royal births, an official announcement won’t be made to the public until after the Queen herself has been notified that the couple is officially parents. However, even their own parents, their children’s grandparents, are not allowed to know of the birth before the Queen according to royal protocol/ That means Markle cannot notify her own mother or father about the birth until after Harry has informed his grandmother.
Traveling Abroad Is A No-No
Though traveling abroad can happen while pregnant, royal moms-to-be are encouraged to stay as close to home as possible during their pregnancy so emergency help can be more readily available if it is needed. As a result, this type of travel is kept to a minimum.
Baby Showers Don’t Happen
While her friends in the States may be able to have bridal shower parties when they are expecting, Meghan Markle won’t have the same luxury due to royal tradition. Royal Expert Victoria Arbiter told The Sun that it’s unheard of for members of the royal family to have elaborate showers because of their wealth, which makes it seem highly inappropriate that they would have a party because they can buy the things they need for themselves.
Royal Babies Are Given Multiple Names
Not surprisingly, any children Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have will not simply receive a first name and a middle name. Following tradition, their children will likely have multiple names, just like their father (Harry’s full name is Henry Charles Albert David), and cousins. Will and Kate gave each of their three children three names—Prince George Alexander Louis, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana and Prince Louis Arthur Charles.
