The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family

Meghan Markle’s net worth may just be enough to support her new lifestyle. She and Prince Harry will now be living on their own, away from the pressures and spotlight of being senior members of the Royal Family.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped down from royal duties to become financially independent. The question many are asking is: can they live comfortably on their own? The answer could be a resounding "yes," as the couple have more than a combined $30 million net worth.

Markle’s alleged net worth is around $5 million, thanks to her showbiz career before meeting Prince Harry. She gained popularity for starring in a popular TV series "Suits" alongside Patrick J. Adams. In a report by Towns and Country, she earned at least $50,000 per episode on "Suits." The talented TV star also appeared in other TV shows such as "CSI: Miami" and "90210."

She made around $450,000 annually from her show with $80,000 coming from endorsement deals. The Duchess of Sussex was featured in the movies "Remember Me" and "The Candidate" in 2010 but earned only $187,000 and $171,429, respectively. When she was still starting in show business, Markle did some calligraphy on the side to earn a bit. She also collaborated with Canadian retailer Reitmans and released clothing collections but ended the partnership in 2017.

Stepping down from being senior members of the Royal Family may have its downside as well. This includes losing the financial incentives that come with it. Business Insider reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can retain their name but may lose the HRH or royal titles in the process. The couple will also stop receiving public funding this year.

The two plan to pay back the renovation costs done to the Frogmore Cottage which was their home in the U.K. The refurbishing is estimated to be worth around $3 million. Many wondered why they have to move out of the house but the couple insists Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace will not cut it for their growing family. Renovations done on the Palace, on the other hand, would cost about $5 million.

Meghan Markle married Prince Harry on May 2018. They welcomed their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor on October 2018. It remains to be seen if Markle will return to acting on TV in the future. Being financially independent could pose some challenges for Meghan and Prince Harry but the couple has millions of net worth to start with to make the transition easier.
