Is Meghan Markle The Next Princess After Kate Middleton? Prince Harry's Girlfriend To Quit Acting, Awaiting Queen Elizabeth II's Approval For Wedding
Meghan Markle may be moving closer to becoming a princess as her relationship with Prince Harry continues to get stronger. Unconfirmed reports claimed Thursday the "Suits" actress was planning to quit acting for now to move to London, where she can spend more time with her boyfriend.
The couple has been in a long distance relationship for six months, with Markle busy filming for her show in Toronto. The American actress took trips to London while on hiatus, and was spotted with Prince Harry on several occasions. Earlier this month, the couple was photographed for the first time holding hands while walking down a London street after a dinner date.
While Daily Star first reported about Markle's plans to leave "Suits," there has been no confirmation that the actress will exit the show. The news went viral, with major outlets speculating whether Markle would give up her "Rachel Zane" role to be with Prince Harry.
In the past, Markle has said that she would want to continue working. “I’ve never wanted to be a lady who lunches. I’ve always wanted to be a woman who works,” she said, according to Vogue.
Markle reportedly started dating Prince Harry in August 2016, and the Kensington Palace confirmed their relationship on Nov. 8. Prince Harry introduced his girlfriend to Prince William and Kate Middleton, however she has yet to meet Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Harry and Markle require the queen's approval for their marriage because of a United Kingdom law created in 1772. Under the Royal Marriages Act, the monarch has the ability to veto the marriage of any relative who is within six family members away from the throne, People magazine reported earlier this month. Prince Harry is fifth in line to the throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
A source told Us Weekly in December that Prince Harry’s grandmother is “delighted to see [him] in a loving relationship.”
