On Thursday, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced their engagement after being together for over a year. However, what may be a surprise to fans of the British royal family is that Meghan Markle played a quiet and unexpected role when it came to choosing the specific ring Mozzi chose for his wife.

In the new pictures, taken by Princess Eugenie, the ring, designed by British jewelry designer Shaun Leane, can clearly be seen. According to Express, Leane is one of the Duchess of Sussex's favorite designers. This has been particularly evident due to the fact that she has worn his designs on various occasions, including his Tusk Bangle at the launch of her Smart Works collection and his Talon earrings at the Invictus Games.
