- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot on May 19, 2018
- They have been staying in Tyler Perry's home in Los Angeles
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s anniversary this year was quieter than their previous celebrations but the couple still rang in the milestone with gifts from their hearts.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Tuesday (May 19) but unlike last year, they were relatively quiet about the occasion. However, Markle and Prince Harry apparently exchanged meaningful presents, an insider told Us Weekly.
“Meghan designed Harry’s card, and handwrote a beautiful, sentimental message inside expressing her love for him. Harry surprised Meghan with a huge, stunning bouquet of roses and a ring, which she loves,” the source said.
The intimate celebration was a far cry from two years ago, when Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in a televised, star-studded affair that saw George Clooney and wife Amal, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Wlliams, and James Corden as guests. This year, the Sussexes don’t mind celebrating the event intimately.
“The most important thing to them was that they got to enjoy each other’s company without any interruption from the outside world,” the source shared.
Another source, meanwhile, told People that the family held the event quietly at the comfort of their temporary home in Los Angeles, Tyler Perry’s multimillion-dollar mansion. Markle and Prince Harry’s anniversary wasn’t the first milestone the couple celebrated in California.
Their child Archie also turned one on May 6 and his mom reportedly baked strawberries and cream cake for the special occasion. The baby, along with Markle and Prince Harry, also video called with their relatives.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced earlier this year that they were stepping down as members of senior royals. Markle and Prince Harry first flew to Canada where they stayed on Vancouver Island before jetting to the busy city of Los Angeles, where the former “Suits” actress used to live.
Prior to their anniversary, Markle and Prince Harry were spotted walking their dogs and volunteering in the community by helping drop foods for those in need, especially in this time of crisis. Project Angel Food executive director Richard Ayoub revealed how the 38-year-old wanted to show her husband around town.
