Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Follow Camilla's Footsteps By Doing This In Sussex
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are taking cues from Camilla Parker Bowles.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to visit the county of Sussex for the first time. During their visit, Prince Harry and Markle will reportedly drop by at a charity, the Rape Crisis Centre for Sussex, which supports sexual assault survivors.
According to Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, the couple is following the lead of the Duchess of York as Camilla champions rape and sexual abuse charities passionately. This is stated on the royal website.
"In recent years, Her Royal Highness has helped to raise awareness of the difficult subject of sexual assault," Camilla's page read. "The Duchess has done so primarily through a number of low-key visits to rape crisis centres to meet staff and clients who use these vital confidential services. Her Royal Highness wrote an article on this subject for the Daily Mail in October 2015."
This, however, is not all that surprising for Markle, who is also known as an advocate for women's rights. On International Women's Day 2015, the new royal even made a speech saying, "I am proud to be a woman and a feminist."
In related news, while Prince Harry and Markle are taking some lessons from Camilla, Kate Middleton is partnering with the duchess. Last week, it was reported that the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall will work together to help children enjoy reading and writing. Middleton is the patron of children's mental health charity Place2Be. On the other hand, Camilla is the patron of The National Literacy.
The National Literacy Trust conducted a research and learned that activities like reading and writing can help children enjoy better mental health. Middleton's Place2Be is creating tips to help the guardians of the kids encourage them to engage in these activities.
There were rumors that Camilla and Middleton had a rift because the former didn't approve the latter for Prince William. In fact, Camilla reportedly asked Prince Charles to advise his son to split from Middleton.
However, according to former royal butler Grant Harrold, the report was unlikely to be true. "This sounds like a fake story with no basis of truth," Harrold said. "The family I know are very close and all have a good relationship with each other as we have seen in all the joint engagements they do on a regular basis."
