Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Made This Charming Gesture At Endeavor Fund Awards
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the Endeavor Fund Awards last week, and they reportedly made a charming gesture while they were there.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met Viv Johnston, 62, the mother of former special forces soldier, Danny, 35. Danny suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which caused him to commit suicide last year.
During the royal couple’s conversation with Johnston, they vowed to do more about PTSD. They also talked about the charity that the grieving mother set up in support of soldiers’ mental health called All Call Signs.
While speaking with Mirror, Johnston shared what it was like talking to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She said that she was both and nervous and excited at the same time.
“I said to Harry that much more needs to be done to help veterans and service personnel suffering from PTSD and other mental health problems – and he nodded. They were both so genuine and really sad to hear about what happened to Dan but they were also really interested in the All Call Signs organization,” she said.
Danny spent four years in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he had been a part of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment. After returning home from Middle Seat, Danny’s life began to spiral downwards. Following his death, Prince Harry penned a touching letter to Johnston.
But the Duke of Sussex’s sweet gesture did not end there. While at the awards show, Johnston asked Prince Harry if he would be interested in owning an All Calls Sign wristband, and he said yes.
“Harry wanted to know why and how it was set up and how the organization worked. I expected someone to take them away once I handed them over but both he and Meghan smiled, said thank you, and put them straight on,” she said.
Prince Harry also served in Afghanistan several years ago. But at the moment, he is focused on his duties as a member of the royal family.
