Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not be stripped of their royal titles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s critics petitioned that their royal title be removed. Campaigner Charles Ross started the petition on the Brighton and Hove City Council website in July where he wanted the council to reject the usage of the titles “Duke of Sussex” and “Duchess of Sussex” for Prince Harry and Markle. He added that it was “morally wrong and disrespectful to the county of East Sussex.”

On Thursday, the Brighton and Hove City councilors rejected it. Several locals were also not supportive of the petition. One said that Ross doesn’t speak for her. Another said that his petition was a “waste of council time.”

“Our city has serious social problems and the council is going to waste time on the sentiment of a disgruntled citizen with nothing better to do than come up with a useless petition. There are financial aspects of the monarchy that can usefully be discussed,” resident Liv Seabrook said.

"I for one can confidently say I have never felt the slightest bit oppressed by the fact that we now have as part of our Royal Family, a Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

At present, Prince Harry and Markle are still on vacation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in Canada. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even welcomed them by posting a warm message on social media.

“Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada. You’re among friends, and always welcome here,” Trudeau wrote on Twitter.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been enjoying their long vacation since November. Expert Eliot Wilson warned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about their six-week vacation because they were expected to engage in formal royal duties and their work “hardly constitutes a hard life.” He also noted that nurses, policemen and firefighters have more demanding jobs, but they don’t get to enjoy the same privilege.
