Meghan Markle Recent Criticism Angers Fans: Duchess Not ‘Hollywood Royalty’

Meghan Markle’s fans recently came to her defense after Prince Charles’ friend, Stefanie Powers, threw shade at her.

While speaking with The Daily Beast, Powers said that the Duchess of Sussex isn’t a good actress. She also said that it’s wrong to label Prince Harry’s wife as Hollywood royalty. After all, she only had one role on television.

After reading Powers’ interview, Markle’s fans immediately took their thoughts to social media to slam the “Hart to Hart” alum.

“Meghan Markle isn't in the royal family distract from other Royal family members. She's not there to be a villain or saint. She's not there to be a poster child for US or UK race relations. She's there because she loved a man & wanted to spend the rest of her life with him,” Twitter user @TudorChick1501 wrote.

“You’re a C-list actress yourself so you shouldn’t try to shade Meghan’s career,” another person said.

One of Markle’s fans also said that Powers’ recent statement was hurtful and unnecessary especially since she has not met the Duchess of Sussex in person.

Others also clarified that it wasn’t Markle who labeled herself as Hollywood royalty. Rather, it was the media. Another fan added that insulting Prince Charles’ daughter-in-law is like insulting the entire royal family.

During her interview, Powers also said that it is not Markle’s role to change the royal family’s dynamic. Rather, her only task is to be Prince Harry’s wife.

As of late, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not yet commented on Powers’ statement, and the actress has also apologized to the royal couple. At present, Prince Harry and Markle are in the United States to celebrate the holidays.

The Daily Beast revealed that the royal couple will return to their royal duties next month. In November, it was announced that Prince Harry and Markle will be skipping the Christmas celebrations at Sandringham this year, and Queen Elizabeth gave them her blessing to spend the holidays with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland.

But royal expert Omid Scobie said on the podcast “HeirPod” that Prince Harry and Markle could return to the United Kingdom right after Christmas to celebrate the remainder of the holidays at Frogmore Cottage.
