Is Meghan Markle Returning To ‘Suits’? Prince Harry’s Wife Misses TV Show
Meghan Markle may have given up the bright lights of Hollywood for Kensington Palace, but that doesn’t mean she has forgotten about her old life. During a visit to Ireland, the former actress admitted she misses “Suits,” the television series she starred in before marrying Prince Harry.
The Duchess of Sussex played a lead role on the series for seven seasons, but was written out of the show after choosing to focus on her royal duties, following her engagement to the 33-year-old Prince.
During her recent trip to Dublin, Markle reportedly spoke to a local woman who complimented the USA series the 36-year-old worked on. “I’m a fan of ‘Suits’ and I said to her that I miss it and she said ‘so do I,’” the woman, identified as Fiona Moore, told reporters.
“She seemed very relaxed and was joking and laughing,” Moore added.
On “Suits,” Markle played a lawyer named Rachel Zane, who fell in love with Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). Both actors left the series at the end of Season 7 after their characters got married and decided to run their own firm in Seattle, Washington.
Although Markle closed the chapter on Zane, the USA series will gain another strong female character named Samantha Wheeler. Katherine Heigl, who will portray Wheeler, believes women will come to admire her character.
“She more than holds her own. She has strength and compassion but will not be bullied, pushed around or be making your coffee,” the star told Us Weekly.
“She’s incredibly intelligent and ambitious and isn’t afraid of a good fight, but knows how to back off and has the integrity to apologize if she’s gone too far. She’s got a quick and sharp wit and loves a good cat-and-mouse game,” Heigl shared.
Though Markle and Adams left “Suits,” series creator Aaron Korsch remains optimistic about the show’s future. “I’m going to miss Meghan and Patrick, but I think there are still interesting stories to tell. And then on the other side of it, you have a rejuvenation with new energy, on screen and off,” he told The New York Times.
When the series returns, viewers can expect to see several on-screen changes, but Korsch plans to keep the show’s core intact. “There’s going to be enough of the old that fans of the show love,” he shared.
“But also new dynamics which challenge the status quo,” Korsch teased.
“Suits” Season 8 premieres Wednesday, July 18, at 9 p.m. EDT on USA.
