Meghan Markle Will Avoid Dad Thomas During US Trip For This Reason
Meghan Markle will reportedly not meet her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., when she travels to the United States this summer.
Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, told Express that the Duchess of Sussex will most likely only meet with her mom, Doria Ragland, and friends when she goes to Los Angeles and New York without Prince Harry.
“There are rumors that Meghan is making a private solo trip to the US in the near future. [The trip] might well provide an opportunity for her to see her father and to heal the breach. [However], chances of reconciliation are slim,” he said.
Fitzwilliams said that Thomas conducting interviews about the royal family and his daughter painted him on a bad light. The expert also said that the dad’s statements against the royal family have been extremely destructive.
“He was highly unwise to give an interview to Piers Morgan and thus open the door to the insatiable media appetite for comment about Meghan and the royal family,” he said.
During a recent interview, Thomas said that he is extremely hurt by the fact that his own daughter cut him off completely. The former lighting director revealed that Markle changed all of her numbers so that he could no longer contact her.
But Fitzwilliams is positive that Markle and Thomas may talk sometime in the future. “It is in everyone’s interest to hope that there is a reunion. Nobody seems to know how this will play out,” he said.
However, Ruth Styles, a journalist for the Daily Mail, said that one of the Duchess of Sussex’s friends doesn’t think Markle and Thomas will reconcile anytime soon.
“A reconciliation is completely off the table at the moment. There’s no chance right now – he’s been a complete embarrassment. They’ve had problems for some time – from before she met Prince Harry. She’s amazed by what’s happened but is taking what he says with a grain of salt. The royal family isn’t as upset as you’d think either,” the source said.
