They gave up not only life as senior royals and public funding, but their HRH titles and all ties to the royal family in order to have a quieter life in Canada. However, some are questioning if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will really find themselves that much happier in another country and have wondered if the pair will regret their decision.

In an interview with The Daily Mail (via Express UK), BBC broadcaster Annabel Croft lashed out at the couple, specifically Markle, stating that she thinks the former actress was the one who spearheaded the entire plan to leave royal life behind.

“I don’t really know if I’m a monarchist or not these days, and I’m not sure about Meghan Markle either,” she said. “She seems to have taken Harry away from his family and now he’s stripped of his royal titles. I think she’s doing the same in Canada.”

She went on to suggest that the couple actually isn’t going to be any happier living in Canada, especially since they will be losing all of the privileges that come from being members of the Royal Family.

“I can’t see how they will have a quieter life in Canada and I don’t think they will be any happier living apart from the rest of the Royal Family,” she added.

Croft is not the only one who has expressed doubt that the couple’s desire to live a quieter life will be one they can manage successfully. In a recent ABC documentary, “Royal Divide: Harry, Meghan And The Crown,” others also stated if the pair was hoping a move to Canada would keep them out of the spotlight and give them a chance to raise their son, Archie, in peace, then the plan could backfire on them. Not only was it pointed out that media interest and scrutiny of Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, got worse after she divorced Prince Charles, but since they are no longer subject to the protections that members of the royal family are afforded from the paparazzi, they can’t fight back against intrusive reporters and photographers.

Nacho Figueras, a friend of Prince Harry’s who he played polo with, also spoke out in the documentary, revealing how the Prince himself has felt over the years but stating that he and his wife may not get to have as normal of a life as they hope.

“He wants to live a normal life as normal as his life is going to be, right? Because when you have 1000 paparazzi waiting outside your house in Canada to get one picture of your son, that’s not very normal,” he said.
