Meghan Markle’s 37th birthday will be special because this will be her first celebration as an official member of the royal family.

Last year, Markle celebrated her 36th birthday only as Prince Harry’s girlfriend because the couple got engaged in November. Rebecca Perring, a journalist for Express, said that it is highly likely Prince Harry and Markle will celebrate the Duchess of Sussex’s birthday privately at the Kensington Palace.

In 2017, the Duke of Sussex whisked his girlfriend away on a romantic getaway to celebrate her special day. However, this year, it is possible that the two will keep things low-key because of their busy schedules. Markle is also expected to return to the United States this summer, and Prince Harry won’t be joining her on the trip.

But according to Hello!, Markle’s Aug. 4 birthday will be celebrated by going to a wedding. She and Prince Harry will attend Charlie van Straubenzee’s wedding on the same day. Prince Harry and van Straubenzee are best friends. The latter will be marrying filmmaker Daisy Jenks in Surrey, England.

Last month, Express reported that Prince Harry will serve as one of van Straubenzee’s best man. This means that he cannot definitely miss his best friend’s wedding. Van Straubenzee was also present at Prince Harry and Markle’s May 19 nuptials at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle so the royal couple will most likely return the favor on his special day.

Van Straubenzee also made headlines at Prince Harry and Markle’s wedding reception when he gave a naughty speech addressed to his pal. He also made fun of Prince Harry’s ginger hair, among many other things.

In related news, Markle’s birthday celebrations when she was still younger were very much different from her recent parties. When she turned 33, she opened up about what her life has been like thus far.

“My 20s were brutal – a constant battle with myself, judging my weight, my style, my desire to be as cool/as hip/as smart/as ‘whatever’ as everyone else. When I close my eyes and think of what I wish for, I come up with a blank. A big gold happy blank,” she wrote.
