Meghan Markle's Brother Questions Palace Why They're Not Treated Like The Middletons
Meghan Markle's brother recently questioned the palace's treatment of their family in comparison to the Middletons.
Markle and Kate Middleton are both commoners who are married to princes. However, unlike the latter, the Duchess of Sussex's family is apparently not pleased with her involvement with the royal family as they reportedly feel disconnected from her. According to Thomas Markle Jr., he's heartbroken over what happened to Markle and their father's relationship.
"They have [brought outsiders in] before in the past like with the Middletons. I don't see why our family is any different," Thomas Jr. told Daily Mail. "Kensington Palace could have got involved a long time ago – as soon as they announced their engagement."
According to him, the palace has already dealt with the same issue ahead of Prince William and Middleton's royal wedding in 2011. Middleton's Uncle Gary also made headlines after chopping lines of cocaine in a newspaper sting at his home. However, he still received an invite to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's big day.
"I think Uncle Gary and I would get along just fine. It would have been nice to at least get an invite to the wedding like he was," Thomas Jr. continued. "I don't need to be brought into all the events or whatever but it would have been nice to be brought into that."
Earlier, Thomas Jr. said that if their dad's claims are true about Markle ignoring him, then the Duchess of Sussex is abusing their father's love. According to him, Thomas Markle Sr. has always put Markle above him and their sister, Samantha Markle. He also insisted that Markle and their father were close when she was growing up. In fact, they were "inseparable."
Markle confessed earlier that her father was a huge influence on her, explaining that one of the most encouraging and unforgettable advice she received was from Thomas Sr. "And in one of those parenting moments that no guidebook could ever prep you for, my dad said words which will stay with me forever. Draw your own box," Markle recalled of her father encouraging her to draw one after she couldn't identify her race in a form with four options: "white," "black," "Hispanic," "Asian." "He wanted me to see beyond that census placed in front of me. He wanted me to find my own truth."
She also added that she saw a family of dolls sold in sets of white and black. Since she is of mixed race, she couldn't find one for their family. However, Thomas Sr. bought those toys, took them apart and customized them for their family.
