Meghan Markle’s Dad Thomas Criticized After Defending Himself, Accused Of ‘Exploiting’ Duchess

Meghan Markle’s dad has been criticized after defending himself over the duchess’ leaked letter.

A week ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they filed a lawsuit against Mail on Sunday for publishing Markle’s private letter to her father. The royal couple said that the letter was edited to mislead the readers.

Many were surprised with the couple’s move because they didn’t see it coming. Also, they made the announcement in the midst of their successful South Africa tour.

Markle’s estranged father Thomas Markle Sr have finally spoken up about the issue. He admitted that he only did it to defend himself. He also added that he only released parts of the letter because the other parts “were so painful.”

The netizens were not happy with Markle Sr.’s move. One royal follower said that the duchess’ father is a “narcissist.”

“I recognize a narcissist -- her father. Only a narcissist would throw his own daughter under the bus to refute false claims. Go Meghan!!” the netizen wrote.

“Come on at this point it’s clear he is exploiting this whole situation with Meghan for a quick buck. The whole concerned father act is just that an act!” a different user added.

Another Markle supporter said that her father was just making a poor excuse. She added that Markle Sr.’s actions are the reason he is no longer part of Markle’s life.

Meanwhile, some netizens felt that Markle’s father only did it to receive cash. In the run-up to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding, Markle Sr. received cash by staging his photos.

“We’ve heard THIS before. He is accepting money for every time he does something about his daughter. I hope she takes him to court,” another royal follower opined.

Markle Sr. canceled his attendance to Prince Harry and Markle’s big day because he was reportedly recovering from a heart surgery. However, an insider claimed that he just faked the heart surgery to generate compassion. Also, by doing so, he would have a good enough excuse to not attend the celebration and avoid further embarrassment.

Meanwhile, some still urged Markle to speak to her father. On the other hand, some netizens also urged Markle Sr. to calm down and stop talking to the press.
