Meghan Markle’s friend denies setting up a charitable foundation website using the duchess and Prince Harry’s names.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very close with Jessica Mulroney. The latter is recently accused of setting up a foundation using the royals’ names. However, Mulroney denied it.
“If certain investigative journalists were to do their jobs, perhaps they would see that Shoebox Project Foundation is owned by a Mr Roy in North Carolina and has no affiliations or ties to our charity The Shoebox Project. Happy Sunday,” she wrote on Twitter.
Mulroney’s post garnered various reactions from her followers. Many supported her and encouraged her to continue calling out the tabloids that they believe are bullying Markle’s friends.
“Keep calling them out Jessica. Their desperation attacking H&M’s friends and now their charity work is just disgusting, how much lower will these vultures go,” @DuchessMRS commented.
“It’s funny they call themselves journalists. These are people who are provided platforms to bully others,” @Tigerlilyujarra opined.
“Thank you for clearing that up, Jessica. The DailyMail is just an evil institute looking to disparage and attack anyone they think they can,” @Legallycam225 wrote.
A day before Mulroney’s post Daily Mail reported that she registered the website sussexglobalcharities.com last Wednesday through her charity the Shoebox Project Foundation. The charity supports vulnerable women. The move comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were told that they could not use “Sussex Royal” for their brand when they officially quit their royal roles effective next month.
Mulroney and Markle are close pals. When Prince Harry and Markle started dating, they tried to keep their relationship a secret. When their romance leaked to the public, the couple hid in Mulroney’s plush home.
According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl, Prince Harry was very kind to Mulroney’s kids and it was among the reasons Markle fell for the royal. Prince Harry showered the kids with gifts and it worked because he won them, but the duke already won Mulroney’s approval from the beginning.
However, Mulroney was accused of stealing Markle’s thunder during her royal wedding. Mulroney had a Pippa Middleton moment when she arrived at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in a tight blue dress by Montreal-based designer Di Carlo Couture. Both ladies have similarities and they were photographed from behind with the netizens praising their derrieres.
