Meghan Markle’s Sister Calls Their Brother An Alcoholic: ‘He Could Die’
Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, recently weighed in on their brother’s DUI arrest.
While speaking with Daily Star, Samantha called Thomas Markle Jr. an alcoholic. She also encouraged her brother to receive treatment or else his life could be at risk.
“One of the saddest facts about alcoholism is that it often takes hitting rock bottom to get treatment. The world has witnessed several alcohol involved incidents that my brother went through including pulling a gun on his girlfriend,” she said.
The 54-year-old multiple sclerosis patient also said that she found it to be scary to learn that Thomas was driving under the influence of alcohol because he could have killed himself or someone else. Samantha is encouraging her brother to seek treatment, but she knows that his addiction won’t be fixed after just a month.
Samantha, who shares the same dad with Thomas, revealed that their whole family is concerned for the latter’s wellbeing. She also said that Thomas has not stopped drinking ever since his friend died, and he may not be aware that he is at risk for cirrhosis of the liver.
In related news, Samantha also claimed that the money that Thomas gets from conducting interviews usually goes to his drinking and partying.
“It’s sad because no matter what he is my little brother and I don’t want to see him hurt, but that’s called tough love and if people don’t like the truth that’s too bad. You don’t enable something like that with fluffery,” she said.
As of late, the Markles have not spoken to their half-sister, the Duchess of Sussex. As such, it is unclear what Prince Harry’s wife thinks of her half-brother’s arrest. Markle has not also spoken to her dad, Thomas Markle Sr. in almost a year.
The father and daughter last spoke to each other before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Thomas Sr. didn’t also attend his daughter’s special day.
