Meghan McCain, the daughter of Republican senator John McCain posted a sexy photo herself on her Twitter page Wednesday evening sparking online controversy.

McCain, 24, appears in the photo wearing a skimpy tank top revealing her voluptuous cleavage while holding the biography of Andy Warhol on her right hand.

The photo quickly received a string of comments many of which offended McCain.

When I am alone in my apartment, I wear tank tops and sweat pants, I had no idea this makes me a 'slut', I can't even tell you how hurt I am, McCain had tweeted.

McCain later apologized for the posting and removed the photo, I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by my twitpic, I have clearly made a huge mistake and am sorry 2 those that are offended,

Meghan McCain wrote in her regular column on the Daily Beast:To be honest, I don't feel that I have anything to feel ashamed of, I've always embraced my curves and will continue to do so.
