Mel B Files For Restraining Order Against Stephen Belafonte Amid Abuse Claims
Mel B recently filed for a restraining order against her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte.
According to People, the Spice Girls member detailed how her husband of 10 years physically and emotionally abused her. After the filing, authorities asked Belafonte to leave their family home in Los Angeles and to stay away from his wife and three children. TMZ was first to report about Mel B’s request for a restraining order, and when the publication asked for a comment, Belafonte denied the reports.
In the court documents filed by the “America’s Got Talent” judge, Mel B detailed that she feared for her life, especially during times when she would experience milestones and successes. In these moments, Belafonte would make his estranged wife feel that he is still in charge. The singer also revealed that in 2010, her ex-husband hired a nanny whom he pitted against Mel B. Later on, Belafonte and the nanny’s relationship became sexual.

Four years later, Belafonte and the nanny told Mel B that they are expecting a child together and wanted the three of them to live in the same house. Since Mel B didn’t approve, Belafonte encouraged the nanny to get an abortion, but he asked Mel B for financial help so the nanny could undergo the procedure.
Meanwhile, Mel B also stated in the court filings that Belafonte encouraged her to have sex with him and random women. If she refused to do so, her ex-husband threatened to release compromising videos of her.
In 2012, Mel B told Belafonte that she will be filming a segment for “The X-Factor” in Sydney, but was called to film an episode of “Home Visit” with Usher instead. When Belafonte found out that there was a sudden change in her engagement, he got upset and accused the singer of flirting with Usher. At this point, Belafonte punched Mel B with a closed fist.
As of late, Belafonte has not yet released his version of the story.
