Mel Gibson Welcomes Ninth Child With Girlfriend Rosalind Ross, Is It A Boy Or A Girl?
Mel Gibson has become a father for the ninth time! The Oscar-winning director welcomed a son named Lars Gerard Gibson on Friday, Jan. 20 with girlfriend Rosalind Ross in Los Angeles.
The healthy baby weighed 5 lbs. 5 oz., according to People. This is Ross’ first child.
Needless to say, the couple are happy with the arrival of Lars Gerard Gibson. “They’re thrilled and Lars is adorable. Their family is all around them and Mel is over the moon. They’re home and everybody is healthy and happy!” a source told People.
Gibson had confirmed the pregnancy in September last year and their son was expected to arrive early this year.
The 61-year-old actor started dating 26-year-old Ross back in 2014 and they have since made several red carpet appearances together. His girlfriend is a well-known equestrian vaulter. It is a sport in which the participant dances and performs various gymnastic routines on horseback. In 2010, she won a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games.
Besides being an equestrian vaulter, Ross is also a screenwriter. She penned “Homeward” and an episode of a TV series named “Matador.”
Prior to Ross, the “Signs” actor was married for 31 years with a dental nurse named Robyn Moore. They had seven children before they split in 2011. He started dating singer Oksana Grigorieva in 2009 with whom he has a daughter. The couple called it quits in 2010.
Although Gibson took a long hiatus from directing and acting, in 2016, he directed a critically acclaimed film called “Hacksaw Ridge.” The movie made its debut at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 4, 2016 to a standing ovation. The World War II drama raked in $120 million worldwide and made three times its production cost.
Gibson, Nicole Kidman and Emma Stone were recently honored at the 6th AACTA International Awards.
