  • Donald Trump reportedly once denied claims that he takes his cues from his children
  • Melania Trump is very influential on her husband, President Trump
  • The FLOTUS reportedly renegotiated her prenup with Trump for Barron

Melania Trump has a lot of influence over her husband, President Donald Trump, an upcoming book claims.

The first lady was not very visible when Trump was campaigning for the presidency. In fact, many thought that her step-daughter, Ivanka Trump, was taking over the role which was supposed to be hers.

However, according to The Washington Post article adapted from her book “The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump,” author Mary Jordan claimed that the POTUS listens to his wife more than his kids, including Ivanka.

Unlike Trump’s children, Melania stayed out of the news as far as possible. In fact, she didn’t move to the White House immediately after the president's inauguration.

The article highlighted a moment when Trump heard a TV commentator talking about the massive influence his children have on him. But the POTUS reportedly just laughed it off.

“Do you think I became successful by listening to my kids? They listen to me,” Trump said.

In fact, Trump has reportedly criticized his children, Don Jr., Eric, and even Ivanka, for doing or saying something that was not helpful to him. However, he apparently never said anything against his wife, Melania.

The president reportedly loved the fact that Melania didn’t need publicity, according to Jordan's book. The FLOTUS also didn’t boast about her influence. The president felt that he was surrounded by people jockeying for his position and were only focused on their own self-interest -- except his wife. Trump has valued Melania’s loyalty and insights before he even joined politics.

“Melania is very behind-the-scenes but unbelievably influential. She is not one to go in and say, ‘Hire this person, fire this person.’ But she lets the president know what she thinks, and he takes her views very seriously,” said Sean Spicer, the president’s first communications director about the first couple’s dynamic.

Spicer continued by saying that Melania doesn’t force Trump to do what she wants. Instead, she reportedly only expresses her opinion, and her husband “tends to agree with her.”

Additionally, if Melania were present in a discussion, the FLOTUS would reportedly always get what she wants.

“The president would say, ‘She is right,’ and that was the end of the discussion,” he claimed.

The same book also claimed that Melania delayed her move to the White House to renegotiate her prenup with Trump. She reportedly wanted to amend her financial agreement to ensure her son’s inheritance.

“She wanted proof in writing that when it came to financial opportunities and inheritance, Barron would be treated as more of an equal to Trump's oldest three children,” Jordan wrote.
