Melania Trump’s statue in Slovenia was criticized.
David C Henley wrote an op-ed for Nevada Appeal. In his article, he shared how he and his wife discovered the first lady’s statue carved by Ales Zupevc, a local sculptor, also known as “Maxi.” He told the media when the statue was unveiled in July that he was born in the same hospital as Melania.
Henley and his wife spent several days in Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital and largest city. According to him, the statue received mixed reviews, with some describing it “beautiful,” “ugly,” “a joke,” “laughable” and “just wonderful.” They met a local whom they asked for an opinion about the Trumps and the statue.
“Donald Trump is a disaster. He is disgusting and he is a fascist. Melania is a good wife and mother, but she’s not come home to Slovenia since her husband became your president nearly three years ago. And she’s done really nothing to publicize our country and help us get more tourists,” he said. “And the statue is awful.”
Melania’s statue gained various reactions from Twitter users, too. Some praised it while others criticized it.
"Looks like a fifth grader made it,” one user commented.
Another user likened Melania’s statue in her hometown to a “creepy scarecrow.”
Meanwhile, some praised the artwork. One said that the wooden statue captured Melania’s “warmth and humanity.” Another added that it’s “absolutely charming.”
In related news, “Free , Melania” author Kate Bennett explained why Melania is the most free person in the Trump world. She said that this is true because Melania can do whatever she wants and although she doesn’t have a platform, she doesn’t have to do events or campaigns if she doesn’t want to.
