Kate Bennett has explained why Melania Trump is the most free modern first lady.

The Cut’s Olivia Nuzzi shared her close encounter with CNN correspondent Kate Bennett. The latter is a frequent Foxtrot flier and is the author of the new book “Free, Melania.” During their conversation, Nuzzi asked about Melania’s biography and how she came up with the title, “Free, Melania.”

Bennett explained that the title was just a play on the original hashtag “#FreeMelania” where many speculated that she was trapped and was tapping Morse code on a window, sending signals to save her. Contrary to that, Bennett actually believed that Melania is the “most free person in the Trump world.” She has been covering the first lady for three years and she found out that the opposite was true.

“In terms of whether you like it or not, she does whatever she wants, whether you agree with it or not. She doesn’t really have a platform. She doesn’t really do events. She doesn’t have to campaign if she doesn’t want to,” Bennet said.

“Do you know what I mean? She’s literally probably the most free modern First Lady that we’ve seen.”

When asked about Melania’s reaction to the book, Bennett shared that for her, the FLOTUS is not happy, but it was because she thinks everybody is out there to make a dime from her. However, the author believes that her book is a fair portrayal of Melania’s life and it is meaner to President Donald Trump.

In the same book, Bennett claimed that Melania suspected Roger Stone of leaking her nude photos. Stone denied the allegations. His wife, Nydia, released a statement to The Guardian calling it “categorically false and completely illogical.” According to her, they have known Melania since she started dating the POTUS and they adore her. They also believe that she is doing a phenomenal job as first lady.

Melania’s spokesperson also reacted to the book. According to Stephanie Grisham, they were disappointed with the book because they worked with Bennett in good faith, but she included false details and opinions from people who don’t know Melania personally.
