Each time the name of Michael Jordan makes the headlines, basketball is the first thing that comes to mind. Seeing how he remains one of the iconic figures in NBA basketball and owns controlling interest of the Charlotte Hornets, it is not hard to see why.

But then again, there is more to Jordan than basketball. He has been known to try other sports such as baseball and golf although he has not exactly been a standout in either. While there is a little bit of competition tied up to those, they are mostly done out of leisure and fulfilling His Airness' bucket list.

Little has been known about Jordan nowadays as he savors life after basketball. After officially (and finally) retiring in 2003, the six-time NBA champion has done the usual things any retired athlete would do. Despite a tone-down persona, he continues to be a draw anywhere he goes and it won't be surprising if this would be the case in a massive fishing tournament over in Ocean City, Maryland.

According to TMZ Sports, Jordan is competing in the fishing tourney where he will join the best anglers in the world. The tournament may not be familiar to most but there is actually over $6 million in prize money at stake. All participants are fishing for everything from a white marlin to tuna. So far, the report mentions that the 56-year-old NBA great has yet to reel anything on his Catch 23 yacht.

There is still time for Jordan to catch something since the event is up to Friday. It remains to be seen if he can pull off something at sea - similar to what he has been known to when he was still playing active NBA ball.

As for his NBA team, the latest is that the Hornets have added a couple of players in Joe Chealey and Josh Perkins for training camp depth, the Charlotte Observer reported. It will be an interesting season for the Hornets who lost Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics. They did get Terry Rozier as his replacement, a move that could be pivotal for the team's campaign in the 2019-20 NBA wars.

Rozier is expected to start for the Hornets this NBA season along with Cody Zeller at center. Other strong candidates to start are Dwayne Bacon and Miles Bridges. Malik Monk and Nic Batum will slug it out for the wing position while Bridges will have to prove he is better than Marvin Williams at power forward.
