Michelle Obama Fashion At Inaugural Balls; First Lady Chooses Jason Wu, Again [PHOTO]
People have been speculating for weeks which designer first lady Michelle Obama would choose to wear for the 2013 Inaugural Ball, and, it turns out, Mrs. Obama decided to pick Jason Wu -- again!
On Monday night, Flotus looked stunning in a red floor-length chiffon and velvet gown; her shoes were designed by Jimmy Choo, and Kimberly McDonald created her ring, according to a White House official.
The custom-made ruby halter dress looked magnificent on the first lady, embellished with sparkly bangles.
Though there is practically no doubt that lady O looked beautiful at the 2013 Inaugural Ball, some pundits and fashion critics have been puzzled by her choice to wear a Jason Wu dress for the Obamas' second and final Inaugural Ball of the president's time in the White House.
Many believed the 41-year-old mother of two would have taken advantage of the opportunity to launch a relatively unknown designer into stardom, the same way she did with Wu back in 2009.
Allegedly, 15 different designers submitted dresses for the first lady to wear, but she seemed to have chosen the dress that made her feel most comfortable.
Her choice to wear Jason Wu at the 2009 Inaugural Ball made him a household name, and it wasn’t surprising why.
The first lady exquisitely showcased the white off-the-shoulder Wu dress, which was beautifully embellished.
The Twitterverse was quick to respond to Obama’s 2013 Inaugural Ball fashion choice:
@MonicaMontanoSD wrote, “Great time at Obama Inaugural Gala! Michelle Obama looked beautiful in Jason Wu.”
@rubyruby2times tweeted, “STOP TALKING ABOUR CATFISH AND LOOK AT HOW GORGEOUS MICHELLE OBAMA IS IN THAT GOWN!”
Inauguration performer Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter to comment about the first lady being the first person to stand up and get the party going.
Others on the mini blogosphere seemed disgruntled that news stations were too busy talking about Obama’s fashion choice rather than hard-breaking news, but not many had anything negative to say about Flotus’ ruby-red gown.
