Michell Obama previously revealed one of her biggest worries for her daughters, Malia and Sasha.
During her interview with Essence last year, the ex-FLOTUS shared what it was like for her two kids to grow up with their father as the former president of the United States.
She said that Malia and Sasha were always accompanied by bodyguards even when they are just doing very normal things like sleepovers. Growing up, Malia and Sasha also learned how to figure out which among their so-called friends just want to be close to them because of their high-profile parents.
Now that Michelle and Barack Obama’s daughters are all grown up, the former first lady said that she’s worried about Malia and Sasha landing on the covers of tabloids for whatever reason. But at the end of the day, the ex-FLOTUS is still confident that she and her husband, with the help of her mom, raised her kids right.
“I credit my own upbringing. I credit my mother. She was in the house with us. Anyone who met Marian Robinson knows she’s not impressed with anything. Our focus was to make sure the girls did what they were supposed to do,” she said.
Earlier this month, Michelle also talked about her daughters and said that it was quite emotional dropping Sasha off at the University of Michigan.
While speaking with People, the former first lady said that she and her husband wanted to make the experience as normal as possible. As such, they helped Sasha unpack her stuff and they also tried to make her dorm look feel as homey as possible.
Years ago, Malia and Sasha also struggled when they had to pack their stuff and leave the White House. And Michelle said that she felt the same way.
Barack and Michelle also had to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration, which was equally emotional for them because they were just some of the few black people that were there.
“By the time I got on the plane, it was a release of eight years of trying to show up,” she said.
