A Michigann resident charged with killing and mutilating a man he met through a dating application was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial according to his lawyer.

The Associated Press reported that the suspect, Mark Latunski, was examined by the state's Center for Forensic Pyschiatry and the prosecutor's office also agreed that he was not "presently competent", attorney Douglas Corwin Jr. said.

Latunski faced murder charges and other crimes in killing 25-year-old Kevin Bacon whom he met on Grindr.

Police found Bacon's body on Dec. 28 hanging from the ceiling of Latunski's Bennington Township home and the suspect admitted that he killed Bacon and ate parts of his body.

For the time being, Latunski is being held at the Shiawasee County Jail while waiting for a court hearing to be held on Thursday.

The case was to be put on hold while Latunski is treated to improve his mental conditioning.
