Authorities in Michigan arrested a man and a woman for opening fire on a house after a baby was called “ugly.”

The incident took place on Margareta Street, Detroit Sunday when a man and a woman, aged 21 and 26, confronted a woman, 23, and her boyfriend, 36, who allegedly called the baby “ugly.” The couples got into an argument, during which the 21-year-old man retrieved a gun from his vehicle and fired at least 16 shots on the house. Two young children were inside the residence, Michigan Live reported, citing Detroit police. None of the people involved in the incident were identified.

The suspects fled the scene after the incident. Police were able to track them later on and they were taken into custody. Authorities recovered a weapon from their vehicle, according to the publication. No one was reported injured in the attack.

A witness named Larry Turner recorded the incident on his cell phone, according to WDIV-TV. Turner told the station that he heard a loud exchange of words between the couples before shots were fired.

“I wasn’t prepared for what I saw,” Turner told the station. The video obtained by WDIV-TV shows a man and a woman coming out of the house before the 21-year-old man retrieves a gun from his vehicle. Someone can be heard in the video asking the man not to open fire but he starts shooting anyway.

Turner said there was a 6- to 7-month-old baby inside the vehicle during the entire incident. However, it remains unclear if it was the same baby who had been insulted.

“He went in there thinking he was going to win, and it looks like he lost that fight and he needed to end it with a bang,” Turner said.

In 2018, a domestic dispute over children making noise during a birthday party turned violent when a 59-year-old man opened fire on his neighbors. The man, identified as Franklin L. Tomes, fired shots on his upstairs neighbors Jose Gaeta and Tristan Smith, both aged 20, because he was upset with the loud noise Gaeta’s children were making. At least 12 rounds of bullets were fired, resulting in injuries. Tomes was arrested after a five-hour-long standoff with officers. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
