A 19-year-old former daycare worker in Michigan pleaded guilty to child molestation charges Wednesday, months after he was caught on camera sexually assaulting a child at a preschool.
The parents of the child were watching a live feed of the class when they saw Aaron Bryant sexually assaulting their child. The parents immediately contacted the Children’s Protective Services who in turn notified the police. Bryant was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The incident took place in October last year, Michigan Live reported.
During interrogation, Bryant admitted to some of the allegations of touching but said that none of them were sexual in nature. A colleague told the investigators that she witnessed Bryant kissing a 3-year-old boy on the lips, an allegation that the accused admitted to.
Another teacher told the officers that she had seen the accused touch another child inappropriately while the child was sitting on his lap. The accused admitted to touching the child but said it was not inappropriate.
"We are deeply sorry for the anxiety this issue has caused any of our school families and team members, and we have provided access to resources such as counseling for those who need additional support," the school had said in a statement at the time.
Meanwhile, in January, another woman accused Bryant of sexually assaulting her 8-year-old son in August 2020. She told the investigators that the accused met the boy for the first time in 2018 when they went to school on the same bus. Bryant was a senior at the time.
Bryant was arraigned in court again in January and charged with two more charges of second-degree sexual conduct.
On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child younger than 13 and one count of fourth-degree child abuse, CBS/CW-affiliated television station WWMT reported.
Earlier this month, a man in Singapore was sentenced to 18 years in prison and 24 strokes of the cane for sexually abusing two young boys, aged 10 and 13, who sought shelter at his home.
