The Redmond-based tech juggernaut Microsoft will reportedly launch the Surface laptop Go On October 1 and would act as the company’s smaller and more affordable alternative to the Surface Laptop 3, according to a new leak.

German Site WinFuture recently shared that multiple retailers are calling the said device Microsoft Surface Laptop Go. The site also offered the technical specs of the rumored device along with its price. The Surface Laptop Go reportedly houses the Windows 10 Pro as its operating system.

The said machine reportedly costs €649 with another model running on Windows 10 S Mode retailing at €599. Other Surface Laptop Go specs shared by the site include the 12.45-inch screen, sporting a much smaller digital footprint compared to its other Surface siblings.

The Surface Laptop Go is also rumored to house the Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor with a base clock of 1.2 gigahertz and a maximum clock rate of 3.6 GHz. Various Surface Laptop Go models are expected to vary in price based on its RAM and storage configuration, according to reports. The upcoming laptop will be available in 4 GB and 8 GB RAM configuration with storage ranging from 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB.

Apart from those, the site also claimed that the Surface Laptop Go would feature a fingerprint reader, WiFi 6 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0 support. With entry-level specs, the possibility of enterprise and education models and the potential reliance on Windows 10 S Mode, the rumored Surface Laptop Go seems like the new Surface Go 2 tablet of Microsoft.

The company’s Go devices offer a more affordable entry to the ecosystem of Microsoft Surface but with several limitations, particularly in terms of value. NeoWin earlier claimed that the Redmond tech giant might hold an event later in the week. This seemingly aligns with the release date of the Surface Laptop Go shared by the German site.

Aside from the Surface Laptop Go, Microsoft is also anticipated to launch the Surface Pro X2 soon. The device is powered by the new Microsoft SQ2 processor, which is reportedly much faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and offers more memory.
