Mike Myers Says His Kids Are Not Fond Of 'Shrek' Movies
While many fans across the world loved the "Shrek" franchise, actor Mike Myers who lent his voice to the lead character failed to impress his own kids.
"They, um, they love Cat in the Hat. The oldest has seen Austin Powers one. They didn't really care for Shrek much," Myers told SiriusXM on Tuesday. "And it was, um, it's absolutely true. And, but I have tough, these are tough New Yorkers."
The 58-year-old actor went on to say how his kids are logical thinkers, saying that "a talking donkey would never say that."
"You know, they're, they're a tough crowd, but when they like something, they love it," he added. "And uh, Spike has Austin Powers one memorized. And, uh, my youngest is, and she's not a fan. She's tough. She's a New Yorker this kid."
Myers shares three kids - Spike, 10, Sunday Molly, 8, and Paulina Kathleen, 6 - with his wife Kelly Tisdale. The actor was previously married to actress Robin Ruzan from 1993 to 2006. The couple doesn't share any kids.
On the work front, Myers first lent his voice for "Shrek" movie in 2001. He went on to work in the sequel, "Shrek 2," which dropped in 2004. The animated movie also released the third installment in 2007. He also gave voice for "Shrek Forever After." It was released in 2010.
Besides being a regular as Shrek's voice, the actor was also a regular on "Saturday Night Live" from 1989 to 2015. He recently appeared in movies like "Terminal" and "Bohemian Rhapsody."
He also featured in a short video, "Uber Eats: Wayne's World & Cardi B's Shameless Manipulation," as Wayne Campbell's character.
Considering his upcoming projects, the actor will work in a comedy miniseries, "The Pentaverate," which will also star Lydia West, Jennifer Saunders, Ken Jeong, Richard McCabe, Debi Mazar and Keegan-Michael Key.
He will also appear in a historical drama movie, "Amsterdam," which is set in the 1930s. The movie is currently under post-production and expected to release on Nov. 4.
The actor who portrayed Dr. Evil's character in the popular movie franchise, "Austin Powers," is also rumored to work on the fourth installment.
