Mike Tyson Reveals His Favorite UFC Fighter
Mike Tyson just revealed his favorite UFC fighter.
In the past few weeks, Tyson has been consistently linked to MMA particularly, with the UFC. And while most UFC stars still look up to Tyson, the former heavyweight boxing champ himself is impressed with some of the fighters in the promotion.
During a recent talk with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, 53-year-old Tyson was asked to comment on the participation of UFC president Dana White in boxing.
According to Tyson, White is good for boxing as he could be the man to “clean up” the sport he once dominated.
“I think that’s a great idea. Because I think Dana (White) is the man to clean boxing up,” Tyson said.
When asked about who his favorite fighter in the UFC is, Tyson was quick to answer and revealed that it was the former UFC bantamweight champ Cody Garbrandt.
“Cody (Garbrandt) yeah. Because he’s with Tyson Ranch,” Tyson revealed.
Tyson also supports Garbrandt’s future plan of challenging professional boxer Adrien Broner. In fact, he even agreed to walk with Garbrandt as he enters the ring if the fight would really happen.
“He (Garbrandt) should go for it if he wants to,” Tyson said about Garbrandt fighting Broner.
“Hell yeah!” Tyson said about walking with Garbrandt to the ring against Broner.
Despite being a heavyweight fighter, Tyson seems to be impressed by smaller fighter. In boxing, the former champ has repeatedly stated that Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko is indeed the best fighter in the world.
When Tyson visited Kyiv last August, he said that the lightweight champ is the best in front of a massive Ukrainian crowd. He even mentioned that Oleksandr Usyk, the other Ukrainian world champion can’t be as good as Lomachenko.
“Lomachenko is the best and I don’t know the other guy (Usyk). The other guy can’t be as good as Lomachenko,” Tyson said.
Ahead of Former UFC champ Rashad Evans’ MMA return, he seemed to have been taking a few pointers from Tyson. Evans posted a video on his official social media account where Tyson can be seen teaching him some strategies in boxing.
In the video, Tyson was even trying to incorporate the boxing style called “Peekaboo” in MMA as he demonstrated a combination which included a “leg kick” in front of Evans.
“Mike Tyson is the Master at 'Peekaboo' boxing style. Mike's former trainer the late Great 'Cus' D'Amato made up the style,” Evans wrote.
