Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. revealed that Mike Tyson’s friendly punch stunned him.

In the history of boxing, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is considered as one of the greatest to ever step inside the ring. His legacy was continued by his son, Julio Jr., but the latter did not manage to reach the status of his father. Nevertheless, Chavez Jr. still has a fairly good career.

In a recent interview with Elie Seckbach of EsNews, the younger Chavez was asked about the greatest boxers of all time. According to the former champ, he doesn’t like talking about it much, but his list includes Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Floyd Mayweather and “Iron Mike” Tyson.

Speaking of Tyson, Chavez Jr. recalled some of the best moments he had with the youngest world heavyweight champion in history. The 34-year-old revealed that Tyson often greeted him with either “a kiss” or a friendly punch.

Chavez admitted that Tyson’s friendly punch also has some power in it. In fact, he even tried to demonstrate how he once reacted when Tyson hit him, and based on his body language, the Mexican fighter seemed stunned.

When asked if he ever tried hitting Tyson back, Chavez said never did as he did not want to mess with “The Baddest Man on the Planet.”

“Tyson is a great person. Other times I see him, he’ll kiss me or throw me a punch. When he hit me, he puts a little (weight into it),” Chavez revealed.

Chavez used to spar with several famous fighters such Gennady Golovkin. But when asked if he would ever spar with Tyson, Chavez responded with a definite no.

Chavez's last ring appearance was in Dec. 20 last year. Unfortunately, he suffered a loss against Daniel Jacobs but is keen to make a return soon. In his return, Chavez said that he wants to see something he has never seen before, suggesting a superfight with a famous name in boxing.

In another recent interview, Chavez was asked who undefeated champ Floyd Mayweather should fight next. Without hesitation, the Mexican star pointed to himself, insisting that the Mayweathers and the Chavezes have “unfinished business.”

Apparently, Chavez wants to settle the score between the two legendary names in boxing. His father Chavez Sr. fought Floyd’s late uncle Roger twice in the past. The older Chavez won the first fight via TKO, but the rematch ended up with corner stoppage from Mayweather’s camp.
