Miley Cyrus once had a close encounter with an extraterrestrial being that left her "shaken."
During an on-call interview with fashion designer Rick Owens, published in Interview Magazine in October 2020, the 29-year-old "Malibu" singer claimed that she once saw a UFO while driving through San Bernardino, California.
"I had an experience, actually. I was driving through San Bernardino with my friend, and I got chased down by some sort of UFO," Cyrus shared after Owens, 59, mentioned his visit to Area 51 in Nevada.
She continued, "The best way to describe it is a flying snowplow. It had this big plow in the front of it and was glowing yellow. I did see it flying, and my friend saw it, too. There were a couple of other cars on the road and they also stopped to look, so I think what I saw was real."
The pop star said she was "shaken" for around five days following the alleged sighting, adding: "It f—cked me up."
Cyrus explained that though she did not "feel threatened" during the alleged encounter, "looking into the eyes of something that I couldn't quite wrap my head around" shook her.
She also agreed with Owens' opinion that it was "a form of narcissism" to believe that humans are alone in the vast universe.
However, the "We Can't Stop" singer also admitted that she had been using marijuana at the time.
Cyrus said that what she saw could have been caused by the "weed wax" she said she purchased from a man in a van stationed in front of a taco shop, but she insisted that the UFO sighting may have been real as it was also seen by other people in the same vicinity at the time.
Cyrus' father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has also claimed to have seen UFOs, according to Yahoo Entertainment.
Back in 2011, the country singer posted on Twitter a picture of lights on the horizon, which he captioned: "My first UFO sighting. Looks like 5 or 6 disk-like shapes hovering. Special moment 4 DAD [sic]."
Earlier this month, the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker made headlines after she was accused of copyright infringement in a lawsuit filed by a paparazzo.
Cyrus is accused of posting on Instagram an image from over two years ago of herself waving to onlookers as she exited a building without the permission of the original photographer, Billboard reported.
The suit was filed by photographer Robert Barbera, who also sued Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Justin Bieber for the same allegations.
In the complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court, Barbera claimed that Cyrus has an "immense presence" on Instagram, including 169 million followers when she posted the image in February 2020. He alleged that her posting the image "crippled if not destroyed" his ability to make money by licensing it.
The filing did not indicate a specific request for damages, but should Cyrus be found guilty, copyright law allows an accuser to seek either "actual damages," or the money lost due to the infringement, or fixed "statutory" damages, which could be up to $150,000 per infringed work.
Cyrus has yet to release an official statement regarding the case.
