Minor Girl Gang-raped By 5 Men In Front Of Mother While Returning Home
A gang of five men raped a minor girl in front of her mother as they were returning home after attending a function.
The incident took place in the Deoghar district of the Indian state of Jharkhand on Monday night. Police have arrested two persons in connection with the incident so far and a special investigation team has been set up to probe the matter, NDTV reported.
The girl and her mother, who hail from the city of Dumka, were on their way back home when the thugs attacked them, senior police officer B Rout told the outlet.
The mother immediately filed a police complaint against the perpetrators, leading to the arrest of two suspects. According to the complaint, six bike-borne men ambushed the duo on the street and forcibly took the minor daughter aside. When the mother tried to stop the thugs, they physically assaulted her and her daughter and then raped the minor girl in front of her, Zee News reported.
In her statement to police, the minor girl said the five men dragged her into a forest and took turns raping her as her mother watched in horror.
"When we were crossing an abandoned stretch, six men intercepted us on two motorcycles and forcefully took me to nearby Bahadurpur forest. Five of them raped me one by one in front of my mother. She too was severely beaten up for resisting them. After the harrowing incident, we somehow managed to reach Madhupur late Sunday night and narrated the incident to the police," the victim said, according to The Times of India.
The mother-daughter duo also told the cops that the men robbed them of $60 (INR 5,000), their mobile phones, and identification cards.
Senior police officer Subhash Chandra further told the outlet that that the girl was being treated at the hospital.
"The report of the girl's medical examination is awaited. She is currently undergoing treatment," Chandra said.
Meanwhile, police continued to hunt the four remaining suspects in the matter.
