Miranda Lambert Believes Blake Shelton's Involvement In 'The Voice' Led To Divorce: Report
Miranda Lambert believes that Blake Shelton was too involved in the reality television show "The Voice," which led to their marriage falling apart, TMZ reported Thursday, citing sources close to Lambert. The couple announced their divorce on Monday, amid rumors of infidelity from both sides.
Lambert felt like an abandoned wife through the marriage and Shelton’s hit show was a constant reason behind the conflicts, TMZ reported. The report went on to say that Lambert “hates” Los Angeles, where she was forced to spend nearly eight months a year. Country singer Lambert also reportedly used to fly out to see Shelton, sometimes just for a day, but he never reciprocated the effort when she was in Oklahoma for work. Sources told TMZ that Lambert finally decided "this is no way to live" after which they split.
"This is not the future we envisioned," the former couple said in a statement, announcing their divorce. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
The two have been surrounded by cheating rumors since last year but did not list infidelity as a reason for the divorce. On Monday, rumors circulated that Lambert's affair with country singer Chris Young led to the divorce. But Young denied the accusations by posting a message on Twitter. There were also rumors that Shelton had a month-long affair with singer Cady Groves. On Tuesday, Groves posted a series of cryptic tweets.
“It’s sick that I experienced a once in a lifetime love -- still as strong as the day it happened -- and have been punished every single day since,” Groves wrote, adding: “I never quit loving you -- you just ran.”
Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams until 2006, and had admitted in 2007 that he fell for Lambert while he was still married to Williams. While reports said that Lambert and Shelton started dating before his divorce with Williams was finalized, Shelton said the marriage ended because "I just really don’t think I was ready to be a husband."
Shelton and Lambert married in 2011 and do not have any children together. The couple also signed a prenuptial agreement before the wedding.
