‘The Mist’ Season 1, Episode 5 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘The Waiting Room’?
Will Bryan (Okezie Morro) get treatment for his gunshot wound before it’s too late?
According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 5 of “The Mist,” Bryan, Kevin (Morgan Spector), Mia (Danica Curcic) and Adrian (Russell Posner) reach a hospital. It’s unclear, however, whether there’s actually any people who can help them in the hospital given the horrible things that have happened since the mysterious mist filled the whole town.
In Season 1, episode 4, Bryan, Kevin, Mia and Adrian met a man named Clay (Teagle F. Bougere) at a gas station. Clay needed gas for his car so he could continue looking for his son, who happened to be one Eve’s (Alyssa Sutherland) students. Clay showed a photo of his son, Toby, to Kevin and asked him if he’s seen him. Unfortunately, Clay’s son was the dead boy the quartet saw outside the church. But instead of telling Clay the truth, Kevin and the others lied to him, saying that they haven’t seen his son.

After Clay got some rest, Kevin approached him and asked him if he could drive them to the mall. Clay refused because he was low on gas and needed every drop of it to find Toby. Kevin understood his decision, but he told Clay to sleep on it.
The next day Kevin found Clay getting ready to leave. When Clay insisted that he couldn’t drive Kevin’s group to the mall, Mia revealed to him that they saw his son at the church and he was dead. Clay didn’t want to believe it and thought that they were just making it all up to get his car. When Kevin confessed hiding the information from Clay, the latter started pointing his gun to Kevin and Mia, forcing Bryan to tackle Clay from behind. As Bryan and Clay wrestled over the latter’s gun, Kevin pulled out his gun and aimed it at Clay. Mia told Kevin to shoot Clay, but before he could do it, Clay accidentally shot Bryan in the leg.
Clay felt guilty about what happened so he let the group have his car. Kevin offered him to come with them, but Clay still believes that Toby is still out there alive.
While Bryan’s gunshot wound has halted Kevin’s potential reunion with Eve and their daughter Alex (Gus Birney), the synopsis reveals that Kevin is going to have an “unexpected and painful” encounter with his brother, Mike (Peter Murnik), at the hospital.
As to what will happen next at the mall, showrunner Christian Torpe revealed in a video interview that some people trapped at the establishemtn will start to see Alex differently after the “shadow monster” spared his life in the bookstore. “Alex somehow mysteriously survives which becomes an important part of some of the later episodes and propels a kind of hatred against her,” Torpe said. “What’s wrong with this girl since the mist wouldn’t want her?”
“The Mist” Season 1, episode 5, titled “The Waiting Room,” airs on Thursday, July 20 at 10 p.m. EDT on Spike.
