‘Modern Family’ Season 9 Renewed? Writers To Come Up With Storylines Next Month
“Modern Family” Season 8 will air its final episode next week, but the show’s fate for Season 9 hasn’t been confirmed by ABC yet.
Ahead of episode 22, “Modern Family” co-creator Steve Levitan said that the writers for the hit ABC sitcom will gather to figure out what Season 9 will be all about. Even though the episodes of “Modern Family” are standalone from each other, all of the installments introduce wonderful values that viewers can learn from. “In about a month or so, the writers will re-gather and we will sit down and we will start the season with a big, ‘What now?’” he said. According to Variety, even though ABC hasn’t made an announcement yet, it is almost certain that Season 9 will be a go.

The final episode for “Modern Family” Season 8 will see Manny (Rico Rodriguez) and Luke (Nolan Gould) graduating from high school. Levitan, who also directed the installment, said that the teenagers in the show graduating from high school isn’t something they can escape. “We’re not ‘The Simpsons,’ where everybody can stay young forever and nobody ages, so it forces our show to change,” he said.
Meanwhile, Levitan also confirmed that Donald Trump’s election as the president of the United States will play a role in the theme for Season 9. “I’ve been thinking about it lately. How is our political movement going to affect our taste in comedy? It’s so much a part of our life now in a really big way that I wonder if it will sleep in more next season and with what we’re all going through,” he said.
In other news, “Modern Family” star Ariel Winter, who graced the Emmy Academy Panel last week, recently came under public scrutiny when she was photographed wearing an elaborate dress. Winter’s co-stars, on the other hand, all wore simple attire to the advance screening of “Modern Family” Season 8, episode 21. On her Instagram account, the 19-year-old fired back at the haters by saying that she is the only one who can decide on what she wants and doesn’t want to wear.
Winter concluded her post by encouraging everyone to dress in a way that’s comfortable for them. She added that as long as they feel good about themselves, they shouldn’t worry about what other people will think and say. “Don’t ever let anyone stifle who you are and how you express yourself,” she wrote.
This is not the first time that Winter fired back at bullies who questioned the way she dressed or commented negatively on her physical attributes. But throughout the years, Winter has become more confident with her body, and she’s also been advocating body positivity on social media. Earlier this year, the actress shared her topless and un-retouched photos from SELF magazine.
While speaking with the publication, Winter explained, “As I got older, I started to realize that as long as I’m positive in my life and as long as I feel good about my decisions and stick to how I feel and the things I want to do, that’s what’s most important. And that’s what’s going to get me through life.”
