‘Modern Family’ Star Ty Burrell May Give Up Acting When Series Ends
“Modern Family” is bound to end one day, and cast member Ty Burrell knows for a fact it would be difficult to say goodbye.
Burrell, who plays the role of Phil Dunphy in the hit ABC series, recently told Haute Living Los Angeles that he thinks he will step away from performing when “Modern Family” ends.
“Honestly, I’ve been taking my lumps as a producer and really enjoying learning how to do that. I think I’m not really willing to travel very much anymore or miss too many dinners away from my kids. So there’s a possibility that I may step away from performing altogether when the show is over,” he said.
Luckily, Burrell is guaranteed to have work on the show until the end of Season 10. “Modern Family” is currently on its ninth season, and ABC decided to renew it for another one in May.
“We feel very proud of ourselves that we’ve made it through ten seasons, but at the same time, it’s going to be very sad. It will be a hard thing to say goodbye to the daily rhythm of seeing everyone’s faces, and just how fun and loving it’s been,” he said.
Meanwhile, “Modern Family” has also turned the likes of Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter into household names for the past couple of years. In the series, Bowen plays the role of Claire, Phil’s wife. Hyland and Winter play Phil and Claire’s daughters, Haley and Alex, respectively. Vergara gives life to the role of Gloria, Claire’s dad Jay’s (Ed O’Neill) second wife.
Other cast members include Eric Stonestreet, who plays the role of Cam; Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays the role of Cam’s husband, Mitchell; Nolan Gould, who gives life to the character of Luke, Phil and Claire’s only son; Rico Rodriguez, who plays the role of Gloria’s son, Manny and a whole lot more.
In other news, an upcoming episode of “Modern Family” will see Phil meeting Coldplay front man, Chris Martin. “Brushes With Celebrity” will air on Nov. 29, according to TV Line.
“Modern Family” Season 9 airs Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
