The Monkees Set To Tour With Surviving Members
It's been 15 years since The Monkees have gone on tour. According to Rolling Stone, the band is set to begin playing again, with surviving members Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. The tour will start in California and end in New York, at the Beacon Theatre.
This news comes nearly five months after the death of lead singer Davy Jones back in February. Michael Nesmith (who hasn't toured with the band since a short UK stint) had this to say, "This seems like a good time to do this - the right time," says Nesmith. "Who knows when we will get another chance?"
The tour promises to be a multimedia and audio hybrid, with the band playing their classic tracks, along with tracks from their film "Head" as well as tracks from their self-titled television series. The multimedia content of the tour will consist of rare films and photographs of the band through the years, and will include special portions dedicated to late lead-vocalist Davy Jones.
