'Monster Hunter Rise': How To Unlock More Submarines
KEY POINTS
- Submarines can be added by completing side-quests
- The side-quests involve obtaining rare items in three different areas
- The quests can be done in either Low Rank or High Rank expeditions
Submarines serve as additional passive sources of items and crafting materials in “Monster Hunter Rise.” In essence, they’re somewhat like a mixture of the Argosy and the Ancient Tree from “Monster Hunter World” in terms of actual purpose.
Like most of the other mechanics in “Monster Hunter Rise,” players will have to do a few side-quests in order to get more than one submarine. These side-quests aren’t terribly difficult to do, but they can be a bit confusing.
The side-quests needed to unlock the two other submarines are Cultural Exchange and Economic Stimulation, both of which will have players gather unique items for Rondine at the Buddy Plaza. The items are as follows:
- Cultural Exchange
- 3x Wisplanterns
- 3x Boatshells
- Economic Stimulation
- 1x King Rhino
- 3x Rock Roses
- 3x Bismuth Prisms
Wisplanterns can be obtained in the Shrine Ruins map. They grow on the same nodes as Firelanterns. One node is found in an isolated path near the main camp that can be reached by taking the Great Wirebug behind the tent.
Another is found near Sub-camp 1, and one more node can be found near the east edge of the river outside of the main camp.
Boatshells are found in Oyster Beds that dot the icy waters of the Frost Islands. A few can be found in Areas 3 and 5, and another can be looted by the broken boat in Area 8.
King Rhinos can be very rarely looted from Shining Rhino nodes in the Flooded Forest. One can be found inside the ziggurat near Area 12 (accessed via the main camp’s secret tunnel). Another node that’s more likely to drop a King Rhino is inside a hidden room at the top of the pyramid, which can be accessed by using a Large Barrel bomb.
Rock Roses are found in the Sandy Plains. They are commonly seen on the top of cliffs and outcrops, near ruined buildings.
Bismuth Prisms are found in the Lava Caverns. One node is near the sub-camp near the river of lava, and another node can be found under the broken bridge located to the north of the main camp.
